Donald Boström reported last week that Israel Defensive Forces (I.D.F) kidnaps and kills Palestinians to steal their organs at Sweden’s largest daily newspaper, Aftonbladet.

Originally published in Swedish, Mr. Boström submitted his article to The Palestinian Chronicle in English:

Countries suspected of these activities are Pakistan, the Philippines and China, where the organs are allegedly taken from executed prisoners. But Palestinians also harbor strong suspicions against Israel for seizing young men and having them serve as the country’s organ reserve – a very serious accusation, with enough question marks to motivate the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to start an investigation about possible war crimes….

In the summer of 1992, Ehud Olmert, then minister of health, tried to address the issue of organ shortage by launching a big campaign aimed at having the Israeli public register for post mortem organ donation. Half a million pamphlets were spread in local newspapers. Ehud Olmert himself was the first person to sign up. A couple of weeks later the Jerusalem Post reported that the campaign was a success. No fewer than 35,000 people had signed up. Prior to the campaign it would have been 500 in a normal month. In the same article, however, Judy Siegel, the reporter, wrote that the gap between supply and demand was still large. 500 people were in line for a kidney transplant, but only 124 transplants could be performed. Of 45 people in need of a new liver, only three could be operated on in Israel.

While the campaign was running, young Palestinian men started to disappear from villages in the West Bank and Gaza. After five days Israeli soldiers would bring them back dead, with their bodies ripped open.

Talk of the bodies terrified the population of the occupied territories. There were rumors of a dramatic increase of young men disappearing, with ensuing nightly funerals of autopsied bodies….

The persons contacting me said that organ theft definitely occurred but that they were prevented from doing anything about it. On an assignment from a broadcasting network I then travelled around interviewing a great number of Palestinian families in the West Bank and Gaza – meeting parents who told of how their sons had been deprived of organs before being killed. One example that I encountered on this eerie trip was the young stone-thrower Bilal Achmed Ghanan [pictured above]….

Discussions ended with Israeli soldiers loading the badly wounded Bilal in a jeep and driving him to the outskirts of the village, where a military helicopter waited. The boy was flown to a destination unknown to his family. Five days later he came back, dead and wrapped in green hospital fabric….

Together with the sharp noises from the shovels we could hear laughter from the soldiers who, as they waited to go home, exchanged some jokes. As Bilal was put in the grave his chest was uncovered. Suddenly it became clear to the few people present just what kind of abuse the boy had been exposed to. Bilal was not by far the first young Palestinian to be buried with a slit from his abdomen up to his chin.

The families in the West Bank and in Gaza felt that they knew exactly what had happened: “Our sons are used as involuntary organ donors,” relatives of Khaled from Nablus told me, as did the mother of Raed from Jenin and the uncles of Machmod and Nafes from Gaza, who had all disappeared for a number of days only to return at night, dead and autopsied.

“Why are they keeping the bodies for up to five days before they let us bury them? What happened to the bodies during that time? Why are they performing autopsy, against our will, when the cause of death is obvious? Why are the bodies returned at night? Why is it done with a military escort? Why is the area closed off during the funeral? Why is the electricity interrupted?” Nafe’s uncle was upset and he had a lot of questions….

We know that Israel has a great need for organs, that there is a vast and illegal trade of organs which has been running for many years now, that the authorities are aware of it and that doctors in managing positions at the big hospitals participate, as well as civil servants at various levels. We also know that young Palestinian men disappeared, that they were brought back after five days, at night, under tremendous secrecy, stitched back together after having been cut from abdomen to chin.

The reaction of Israeli officials is disgusting.

Matti Friedman at The Associated Press (AP) reports: the head of Israel’s Newspeak department, Daniel Seaman, said the article had “vile anti-Semitic themes”.

Richard Boudreaux at the Los Angeles Times reported:

“On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu joined a chorus of Israeli protest against the Swedish stance, saying it ignores the article’s potential to incite violence against Jews. Addressing his Cabinet, Netanyahu likened the report to ‘medieval libels that Jews killed Christian children for their blood,’ said an official who was present.”

Israel’s foreign and finance ministries is up in arms and being more aggressive and repeating Mr. Netanyahu, verbatim.

Finance Minster Yuval Steinitz said: “In the Middle Ages, slander was spread accusing Jews of preparing Passover matza [unleavened bread] with the blood of Christian children… Those who do not condemn [the article] are not welcome in Israel.”

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Yigal Palmor commented: “In a democratic country, there should be no place for dark blood libels out of the Middle Ages of this type…. This is an article that shames Swedish democracy and the entire Swedish press.

Can you say “manufactured script” with a clear purpose to create diversions?

Mr. Palmor added, “This piece is so blatantly racist and can induce to hate crimes in such a way that we think authorities need to take care of the matter.” (AP)

Mr. Boudreaux continued: “Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said the article had ‘an odor of anti-Semitism’.”

Isabel Kershner at The New York Times reports today that Mr. Lieberman called the article, “reminiscent of Sweden’s position during World War II, when it also did not become involved.”

“Outspoken” is a bit of an understatement for Mr. Lieberman, who Anthony Lerman recently wrote about at the guardian:

Avigdor Lieberman is no aberration in Israel’s polity. His aggressive rightwing Zionist rhetoric, racist demonisation of Palestinians and Arab-Israelis, shameless political populism and the tide of corruption allegations now close to engulfing him are all depressingly and dangerously familiar features of a broken system. The immigrant from Moldova has brilliantly exploited and contributed to the fracturing of politics in the state.”

Mr. Lerman’s comment is pretty uncontroversial. Taking all of this in, one cannot ignore the 500 lb. gorilla in the room: the I.D.F. is being accused of targeting people to loot their bodies in a genocidal manner and instead of addressing the specific claims, the rhetoric revolves around WWII and the historical oppression of Jewish people. Another incident where these disgustingly cynical agents of the State exploit appeals to emotion and faith to cover up their evil.

Mr. Friedman reports: “Aftonbladet Editor Jan Helin said, ‘The article poses a question — why has this body been autopsied when the cause of death is obvious? There I think Israeli authorities owe us an answer.’ “

In his introduction for The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering, my former adviser Prof. Norman Finkelstein wrote:

“The Holocaust” is an ideological representation of the Nazi holocaust. Like most ideologies, it bears a connection, if tenuous, with reality. The Holocaust is not an arbitrary, but rather an internally coherent construct. Its central dogmas sustain significant political and class interests. The Holocaust has proven to be an indispensable ideological weapon. Through its deployment, one of the world’s most formidable military powers, with a horrendous human rights record, has cast itself as a “victim” state… Considerable dividends accrue from this specious victimhood — in particular immunity to criticism, however justified. Those enjoying this immunity, I might add, have not escaped the moral corruptions that typically attend it…. (3)

Prof. Finkelstein’s wisest words regarding the Nazi holocaust are:

In the face of the sufferings of African-Americans, Vietnamese, and Palestinians, my mother’s credo always was: We are all holocaust victims. (8)

The Palestinians’ holocaust at the hands of Israel’s ruling elite continues. Were these elite statesmen truly respecting the atrocities to mankind that was the Nazi holocaust and very real historical oppression of people of Jewish faith, they wouldn’t piss on the graves of the millions slaughtered in how they script the Newspeak to cover up their own genocidal crimes against humanity.

  1. modernityblog says:

It is a pile of racist bollock, as simple as that.

  2. […] West Bank Palestinians have called for an international probe into Israeli soldiers stealing body organs from Palestinians, as reported by Sweden’s most widely circulated newspaper, Aftonbladet (AJE). Read more details on the article on Israeli government reaction here. […]
