A message from AntiWar.com.

The warmongers hate it when someone tips over their rock and reveals the slippery, slithering things hiding underneath – and that’s why they especially hate AntiWar.com.

Because that’s the essence of our job: exposing the War Party.

We were the first to name Scooter Libby as the likely outer of CIA agent Valerie Plame. We were the only major news outlet to provide comprehensive, ongoing coverage of the AIPAC spy trial. We exposed the Niger uranium forgery and pointed to its likely source. We took on Rep. Jane Harman when she was caught enabling espionage in return for political favors.

In short, we’ve been on the front lines since 1995, fighting the good fight and shining the spotlight on the War Party’s schemes, and we couldn’t have done it without the financial support of our readers. You see, real journalism – the sort that tells you something that the Powers That Be don’t want you to know – is hardly ever practiced in this country anymore, and independent coverage of foreign policy issues… well, it just doesn’t exist. Except here.

We don’t have any corporate sponsors or big foundation grants. The establishment isn’t interested in funding our brand of muckraking, and we frankly can’t blame them. We report and analyze the news without fear or favor, and that’s just not their cup of tea.

We’re asking you to defy the establishment and help make sure independent journalism survives in this martial age. Your tax-deductible donation goes to keep a very tight ship afloat: our small staff gets by on a fraction of what the mainstream media spends, and we get a big bang out of every buck you send us.

So don’t delay: the future of independent reporting on issues of war and peace hangs in the balance.
